Description

Only ingredient: 100% Grass-Fed Black Angus Lean Beef
4 oz of freeze-dried meat equals 1 lb. of raw meat.
We own about 50-70 head of black Angus Beef. Our cows graze on 500 acres in the Hidden Valley at Lake Totten in Cortez, Colorado. During the winter months, we feed them grass & alfalfa hay.
We only use very lean raw beef for our dog treats. The meat is cut, shock frozen, and freeze-dried for 30+ hours. Freeze-drying causes no damage to the nutritional value of fresh food. The freeze-drying process removes any moisture from the meat so it will stay good for many months without any preservatives.
What’s Grass-Fed Beef?
When you think of beef cattle, you probably think of cows, grazing on a pasture or munching on a hay bale. But that’s not how it usually works.
Most beef cows live the first few months of their lives in a pasture feeding on grass. Grain-fed cows are then moved to a feedlot where they are fattened with corn and soy. They are given antibiotics and growth hormones and have limited exercise, so they gain weight faster than grass-finished beef cows.
Grass-fed cattle only feed on grass or hay and are never fed any grain or given growth hormones.
Most beef used in dog food and treats is from cows that are grain-fed, not grass-fed.
Is there a nutritional difference?
Yes! Grass-fed beef contains up to five times as much omega-3 as grain-fed beef. Dogs need high amounts of omega-3 because they can’t produce it on their own. What they eat is the sole source of omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids help support dogs’ hearts, joints, coasts, skin, and immune systems. Grass-fed beef also contains about twice as much Conjugated Linoleic Acid as grain-fed beef, which supports weight management and the development of lean muscle mass in dogs.
Grass-fed beef contains higher amounts of nutrients, like vitamin A, which supports optimal canine health, and vitamin E, which is a powerful antioxidant. Grass-fed beef tends to be richer in other antioxidants as well.
Most people do not like the look of raw meat, so I didn’t add any pictures here but you are welcome to text me at (970)882-3299 if you would like to see additional pictures or if you have any questions about our homemade beef treats.
