- 1 (10 oz) can of evaporated goat’s milk.
- 1/3 cup of strained liver water.
- 2 raw egg yolks.
- 1 tbsp of canola oil.
- 1 cup of whole-fat plain yogurt.
- 1 tsp of Karo syrup (white, dark, or maple.)
- 1 ml of baby vitamins (without iron.)
Notes: Jared was able to find most of these ingredients at our local organic store. You can substitute evaporated cow’s milk if goat’s milk isn’t available. If you’re using fresh goat’s milk, just know it has fewer calories per cc—but it’s still highly nutritious.
Pro Tip: Don’t dilute the canned goat’s milk. The goal here is maximum calories!
Why These Ingredients Matter:
- Raw egg yolks are completely safe for dogs and provide healthy fats and carotene.
- Liver water is made by boiling a piece of liver until the water is rich and dark. It’s loaded with taurine, which supports heart and eye health—and helps prevent juvenile cataracts.
- Iron-free baby vitamins help avoid constipation, which can be an issue in weak or struggling puppies.
- Even just strained liver water alone can perk up a puppy that’s fading.
How to Store:
- Blend everything together until smooth.
- Strain it to remove any chunks.
- Pour into ice cube trays and freeze.
- Once frozen, pop them out and keep them in a zip-lock bag in your freezer.
To use, thaw a cube and warm it up gently. If it seems too thick, you can thin it with Pedialyte, fresh goat’s milk, or water.
