Embark Veterinary, Inc. and the Rocky Mountain Biewer Terrier Club entered into a Research Partnership Agreement to enhance the genetic health of the Biewer Terrier, preserving the legacy, informing on health, & breeding for vigor.
Embark will provide Routine interactions with the RMBTC officers to prioritize research interests. The RMBTC will receive breed specific materials to assist in education and active sample recruitment. Individual DNA test results will be available to Biewer Terrier breeders & owners. The club will receive updates about the breed health status and population & diversity analyses. A breed research study can be designed and implemented. The Rocky Mountain Biewer  Terrier Club will receive subsidized pricing options.
An annual reports to the Rocky Mountain Biewer Terrier Club. “State of the breed Summaries” include disease impact statistics, emerging disease concerns, and diversity evaluations. No individual test records or private information will be released.
By health testing our Biewer Terriers with Embark Veterinary, Inc., the Rocky Mountain Biewer Terrier Club has the opportunity to create a breed population database that enables the discovery of causal mutations of known genetic disease concerns and the identification of emerging and previously unassociated genetic disorders.
Embark will provide a dedicated program to evaluate breed diversity and stake in a process to prioritize disorders of interest in Biewer Terrier to guide research study objectives.
Annual breed reports from Embark will guide Rocky Mountain Biewer Terrier Club breeder policy and decision making. The club will have access to raw data for collaborative studies with owner consent options and reduced and subsidized DNA testing options for participating community members. A custom ‘Matchmaker’ breeder tool for the Biewer Terrier community will be available when the population sample numbers are achieved.
The Rocky Mountain Biewer Terrier Club will prioritize disorders of interest in the Biewer Terrier breed to guide research study and provide organized effort to engage the community to support a unique ongoing research platform.
